But where to start when there are so many approaches on offer.
This is a simple program I created after many years of working in the field, as a Psychologist and Holistic Counsellor, incorporating traditional and somatic (body based) awareness.
It's a good balance of learning and doing, so things can begin to shift for you, over the course of the 8 modules.
Trauma is defined, not purely by what happened to us, but by the effects these things had on our developing nervous system, while it was growing itself.
Without the right healing and meeting, these nervous system adaptations can stay with us a lifetime, affecting everything our nervous system governs - sleep, rest, mood, our ability to reset after stress, our ability to be present and flexible in relationships, our knowing of who we are, our confidence to bring our gifts forward into the world.
These days it's important for all of us to know:
- what shaped our nervous system while it was growing itself
- how we adapted to cope- how the impacts and adaptations are getting in the way of the life we want to live now- how to heal in a trauma informed way
you find yourself having big reactions to scenarios others seem to cope better with
you find yourself going into 'fight' mode in relationships, when something gentler would work better to create connection
you find yourself avoiding stressful relationship scenarios, where it would be better to be able to speak your truth, stay present with the other person and hold boundaries where you need to
you shut down or zone out when things get too stressful or you feel overwhelmed, especially when it comes to relationships or something that threatens your sense of safety or health self identity
your nervous system is always 'running high' - anxious, thinking and acting fast, doing things for distraction from your inner world
you use substances to avoid feeling overwhelmed, left out, lonely, hurt, abused, trapped, stuck, bored .. all the things.
you know you can be controlling or manipulative at time, to get what your need or to avoid stress in relationships
you find yourself feeling controlled or manipulated in relationships and end up flipping between fight, flight, freeze and collapse nervous system states
learn what complex and developmental trauma is
understand the preparation needed before actively processing stored trauma in your body
build your somatic (body based) awareness of your strengths and resources
learn to track your nervous system activation, so you can respond more easily to small shifts and signs
understand your personal profile of what shaped your nervous system while it was growing itself
get to know what triggers a survival response in your nervous system - fight, flight, freeze, collapse
begin to bring now what you needed earlier for healing and to build a stable and flexible nervous system
Step by step, start creating and somatically experiencing now, the conditions your nervous system needed when you were younger.
Most of us didn't receive enough of the right conditions for nervous system flexibility, when we were young.
So we have to create them now.
Let me show you how.
I am a Psychologist, Holistic Counsellor and Trauma Therapist.
After years of supporting individuals and organisations to uncover and express their authentic self (not our various roles and social masks or adapted trauma based selves), I discovered that I 'wanted to go deeper'.
All the traditional and holistic approaches weren't enough without trauma informed understandings and approaches.
Because your trauma impacts will get in the way of you shining your light. And I want you to feel safe to shine.
In these programs I bring together decades of work, research, client time and a personal journey in mainstream and holistic approaches to your health, wellbeing and soul journey.
From my soul-self to yours,
