Build your skills as a family therapist
Parenting is a difficult and exhausting, and never is this more true than when parents are grieving. How can parents be expected to respond effectively to the needs of their children when they themselves are running on empty?
This workshop is for you if you are a counselor, family therapist, or social worker who works with grieving parents in any clinical capacity. In this course, we will:
List the life transitions & stressors that cause parental grief, paying special attention to the loss of a loved one and how bereavement impacts parenting
Apply a clinical understanding of grief to the tasks of parenting, identifying barriers that complicate and interfere with parenting skills
Identify intentional strategies parents can use to show up for their children (and themselves) after loss
Jordan (she/her) is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, Child Mental Health Specialist, and Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor with over a decade of experience in child mental health.
She is the founder of Atlas Counseling, a child & family mental health practice in Seattle, WA, and the Atlas Institute, an online training community dedicated to equipping all therapists to provide therapy services to children & their families.
In addition to her professional experience, Jordan is both a parent and a bereaved parent herself and uniquely understands the complexity of parenting after loss. She utilizes both professional training and personal experience to develop effective support programs for grieving families.
